UPSC CMS 2026 Recruitment Notification Released for 1,358 Posts
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Combined Medical Services (CMS) 2026 recruitment. A total of 1,358 vacancies are available for various Medical Officer posts, including Central Health Service (CHS), Assistant Divisional Medical Officer (Railways), NDMC, and MCD positions. Interested candidates with MBBS qualifications can apply online from 11 March 2026 to 31 March 2026.
Eligibility:
Candidates must have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination. Applicants appearing for the final MBBS exams may also apply provisionally. The maximum age limit is 32 years for general candidates and 35 years for CHS Medical Officers as of 1 August 2026. Age relaxation applies for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and ex-servicemen as per rules.
Salary:
The posts offer a Pay Matrix Level-10 salary ranging from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 along with Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) and other admissible allowances. Promotion opportunities are available in some positions, but private practice is prohibited.
Selection Process:
The selection includes a Written Examination (500 marks) and a Personality Test/Interview (100 marks), totaling 600 marks. The written exam consists of two objective papers covering General Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine. Negative marking of 1/3rd is applied for wrong answers.

Candidates must apply online through the UPSC website (upsconline.nic.in). They need to create an account, fill the Common Application Form, select the exam centre, upload photo and signature, and pay the application fee of Rs. 200 (exempted for females, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates).

Online applications are open from 11 March 2026 and close on 31 March 2026 (6:00 PM). The written examination will be held on 2 August 2026. Candidates are advised to apply early to secure their preferred exam centre.
