The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has announced its Trainee Engineer Recruitment 2026, offering 72 vacancies across Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering streams. This recruitment drive is a great opportunity for engineering graduates looking to start their careers in the public sector.
The official notification was released on March 12, 2026, and the online application process began on March 16. Interested and eligible candidates can apply through the official NHPC website until April 6, 2026.
To be eligible, candidates must have a B.E. or B.Tech degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks from a recognised institute approved by AICTE. The maximum age limit is 30 years, with relaxation provided for reserved categories as per government norms.
Selected candidates will be placed in a one-year training program with a pay scale of ₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000. After successful completion, they will be absorbed as Engineers or Officers in the same pay scale. The total annual package is expected to be around ₹15 to ₹16 lakh, along with benefits like allowances, medical facilities, and pension.
The selection process is based mainly on GATE 2024 or GATE 2025 scores. Candidates will also go through a group discussion and a personal interview. In some cases, a psychometric assessment may also be conducted. GATE scores will carry the highest weight in the final selection.
Candidates from OBC category need to pay an application fee of ₹708, while SC, ST, women, PwBD, and ex-servicemen are exempted from paying the fee.
