UPSC CSE 2025: This year, around 979 vacancies will be filled through the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will close the application window for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025 tomorrow, February 18, on its official websites — upsc.gov.in and upsconline.gov.in.
The initial deadline was February 11, but it was extended. As per the official notification:
“The last date for submission for CS(P)-2025 & IFoS(P)-2025 has been extended till 18.02.2025 (06:00 PM). Further, the correction window of 7 days shall now be available till expiry of 7 days from the next day after the closure of the application window i.e. from 19.02.2025 to 25.02.2025.”
To apply, candidates must first create a One-Time Registration (OTR) profile, which remains valid for a lifetime. Those with an existing OTR profile can directly fill out the application form.
The UPSC Civil Services (Prelims) 2025 is scheduled for May 25, 2025.

About the UPSC CSE exam 2025
The UPSC CSE 2025 will consist of two stages — Prelims and Mains (which includes a written examination and an interview). The detailed exam pattern and syllabus are available on the commission’s official website.
For objective-type questions in the UPSC CSE 2025, negative marking will apply for incorrect answers.
Eligibility criteria, age limit, application fee
To be eligible for UPSC CSE 2025, candidates must hold a graduation degree or an equivalent qualification.
Those who have appeared for their final graduation exam but are awaiting results can also apply. However, if they qualify for the interview/personality test, they must provide proof of having passed the examination.
Candidates with degrees in MBBS/BDS/Veterinary Science or equivalent must submit proof of completing their internship. Those who haven’t finished their internship can still appear for UPSC CSE 2025 provisionally, but they’ll need to present their degree certificate and internship completion proof at the time of the interview.
The age limit is between 21 and 32 years as of August 1, 2025, with upper age relaxations applicable for reserved category candidates.
As for the number of attempts, unreserved candidates can take the exam six times, OBC candidates nine times, and SC/ST candidates have unlimited attempts within the age limit.
The application fee is ₹100, but female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempt from paying the fee.
