UGC-NET Examination Details
NTA will conduct the June 2024 Cycle of UGC NET in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in multiple shifts. The exam will follow the specified time schedule in the Information at a glance for the subjects listed in Annexure-II, in selected cities across the country (Annexure-III).
UGC-NET Mode of Examination
- The examination will be conducted only in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
UGC-NET Pattern of Examination
- The UGC-NET Test will comprise two papers, both consisting of objective type, multiple-choice questions. There will be no break between the papers.
- The time duration for UGC NET Paper 1 or Paper 2 is 3 hours (180 minutes).

UGC NET Subject and Syllabus of Test
- The list of subjects and their codes for the June 2024 Cycle of UGC NET is provided in Annexure-II. Candidates should note that the syllabus has been revised, and the new syllabus applicable from June 2019 onwards has been notified through a Public Notice on the NTA website.
- The updated syllabus for all NET subjects can be downloaded from the UGC website: https://www.ugcnetonline.in/syllabus-new.php.
- The National Testing Agency will not provide a copy of the syllabus to any candidate.
UGC NET Medium of Question Paper
- The question paper will be in English and Hindi only.
- Candidates must carefully choose the medium of the question paper while filling out the online Application Form, as the option cannot be changed once exercised.
- Candidates who opt for Hindi medium will receive a bilingual paper, while those who opt for English medium will receive an English version only.
- Candidates must answer in the medium chosen in the Application Form.
- In case of any ambiguity in translation or construction of a question in the exam, NTA will consider the English version final, and its decision will be final in this regard.
UGC NET Marking Scheme
- Each question is worth 2 (two) marks.
- Candidates will receive 2 (two) marks for each correct response.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect responses.
- The examiners will not give marks for questions that candidates leave unanswered, do not attempt, or mark for review.
- To answer a question, the candidate must choose one option as the correct option.
