CUET UG Result: The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the entrance exam, announced on Sunday that a re-test will be held for over 1,000 CUET UG candidates on July 19.

In response to the delayed admissions caused by uncertainty around the CUET UG results, universities in the national capital, including JNU and DU, plan to hold weekend classes and implement a shorter winter break.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the entrance exam, announced on Sunday that a re-test for over 1,000 CUET UG candidates will be held on July 19. This decision comes after candidates raised complaints about issues such as time loss due to the distribution of the wrong question paper.

The agency has yet to clarify the new timeline for the result declaration, which was originally scheduled for June 30 but has now been delayed by over two weeks. Additionally, the final answer key for the undergraduate admission test has not been released yet.

A senior JNU official stated that this delay in the result declaration will affect the university’s plans to release a unified academic calendar for all student batches.

The university will need to rely on extra classes on Saturdays and may have to shorten its winter break to make up for lost time and complete the syllabus, the official said.

“Instead of a five-day week, we might have to shift to a six-day week and use Saturdays to cover the syllabus. We will also consider shortening the winter break if necessary,” the official added.

“JNU had planned to release a unified academic calendar for all batches starting this year to create consistency in the admission process. This practice was discontinued due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. We will have more clarity on the academic schedule once the result dates are announced,” the official said.

Ambedkar University also plans to hold extra classes in the evening and on weekends, and may reduce holidays to make up for the delay, if necessary, according to Vice Chancellor Anu Singh Lather.

“There will be about a two-week delay due to the re-test, but I believe this can be easily managed with some extra classes,” Lather said.

“The session for first-year students was originally set to start on August 1, but if the results are not announced within the next two weeks, we will conduct extra classes in the evenings after regular classes and on weekends, and may also reduce the number of holidays to compensate for the delay,” Lather added.

Classes for the rest of the students will begin as scheduled, she said.

In Delhi University, officials have indicated that the delay will extend the academic calendar for first-year students beyond the originally planned end date.

However, the schedule for the rest of the students will remain unchanged, with classes set to begin on August 1, according to DU’s registrar, Vikas Gupta.

Last week, DU had notified its academic calendar for second-year students, which includes a shortened winter break of just four days, though the university did not provide a specific reason for the reduced break.

Meanwhile, an official at IP University stated that the delay would not impact its admission process, as the university conducts admissions through CUET during the final phase and expects the results to be available by then.

Vice Chancellor Mahesh Verma said, “We conduct admissions for professional courses through a national-level entrance test and our own in-house entrance examination. After completing admissions through these methods, we fill the remaining seats using CUET scores. By the time we reach this stage, the CUET results will be available, so our admissions process will not be affected.”

There was no immediate response from Jamia Millia Islamia, which also uses CUET scores for UG admissions in some of its courses.

While DU and Ambedkar University rely entirely on CUET scores for admissions into their undergraduate and postgraduate programs, universities like JNU, Jamia, and IP University either accept CUET scores for selected courses or have their own entrance exam systems.
